| Q. Are there any safety issues with regard to travelling in a motor vehicle - eg 'sparks or exposure to flames can cause fire and explosion hazards'? |
(Posted: 13th Nov, 2008) |
A. The Evergo is designed and approved for use in a motor vehicle. Recharging while driving is a standard feature.
Portable oxygen concentrators are very safe.
They do not store oxygen, but extract it from the surrounding air as required, and provide it in small "pulses" or doses.
Oxygen extraction ceases as soon as the machine is turned off, and the amount available for combustion at any one time is very small.
Consequently, these appliances can be used almost anywhere, but commonsense dictates that a patient should not be smoking when using the Evergo. |
