A. The short tube that comes with the humidifier attaches from the outlet of the CPAP machine to the inlet of the humidifier, in the HC150 this can be either of the openings on the top of the disposable humidifier chambers.

The long hose connects from the other outlet on the humidifier (the other top opening on the chamber) to the cpap mask.

Air will then blow from the cpap machine, through the humidifier, and into the mask.

Hope that this helps.

Q. What is in the kit? (Posted: 18th June, 2008)
A. Includes the humidifier, one replaceable chamber and a short hose to connect from your machine to the humidifier.
Your existing hose connects from the other side of the humidifier to your mask.

Q. I have got a Nippy 3 and a HC150 humidifier. I would like to know whether I stand them on the same level or whether it is better to have one at a higher level than the other, and if so, how high? (Posted: 27th Jan, 2009)
A. If you are an "active" sleeper, we recommend the machine and humidifier are kept as low as possible, and if possible keep the humidifier on the floor. This prevents or minimises accidental dislodging/tipping when the connecting tube from mask to humidifier is pulled, as you toss and turn.

More sedate sleepers can safely keep the machine and humidifier on a side table, though the lower the better for the above reasons.

In either case, always maintain the humidifier outlet below mask height when in use, to ensure any excess moisture from condensation flows back towards or into the humidifier chamber, and not into the mask.

Finally, an additional benefit of keeping the machine low, is that you can often keep part of the bed between the machine and you or your bed partner's ears, thus eliminating direct travel for sound waves, which lessens machine noise.
