for Product: Fisher & Paykel HC401 Aclaim Nasal CPAP Mask |
| Q. Is this a medium sized mask? It is for an adult male? |
(Posted: 13th July, 2006) |
A. Joyce:
The Aclaim is a standard size mask that does work quite well, with its biggest drawback being the over-the-head look.
Funnily, I find that this keeps the hose out of the way quite well when I sleep.
The Aclaim comes with both small/medium and medium/large silicone cushions in the box.
It is the predecessor to the HC405 Flexifit mask, and shares several parts.

| Q. Does the head gear clip off so you can wash the mask or do you have to undo velcro straps from the head gear each time you wash the mask? |
(Posted: 24th Sept, 2006) |
A. For washing, it is easier to remove the silicone from the mask frame. You can then wash the silicone cushion in warm soapy water, wipe (do not wash) the grey foam, and wipe clean the mask interior/exterior. You don't even have to remove the straps.
Air dry the pieces, not in direct sunlight, put the grey foam inside the silicone cushion and place the cushion back onto the mask frame. Voila, ready for use again.
The last part, reassembling the mask, is really easy by the fifth or sixth time. The first few times it will frustrate the heck out of you. Watch closely as you take it apart, and go slowly when you put it back together. |
