Does this machine remove the necessity to re-visted a sleep clinic as a result of the auto facility?
(Posted: 14th Feb, 2008)
A. The automatic feature does mean that the therapy will change as required to meet your needs, and as determined by the algorithm set on the machine.

However, we always recommend periodic reassessments, to ensure that the therapy is working, and that circumstances haven't changed.

Your ongoing good health should be more important to you than the occasional inconvenience of a sleep study every 18 - 24 months.

Q. What face mask do you recommend for the M Series and price please? (Posted: 2nd April, 2008)
A. All masks from major manufacturers are standard in tube fitting size, and all will fit the Remstar machines.

The mask that fits you properly is the best mask you can get.

It is essential that you get a mask fitted, with you lying down in your normal sleep position, and under the pressure that you are prescribed.

Anything less than the above is a potential waste of money. Fitting your face to a piece of plastic or paper cutout just
doesn't work often enough to be a viable alternative.

Find a local supplier of CPAP equipment; one who carries more than one brand of products, and get them to do a proper mask fitting. Find out before you purchase what happens if the mask doesn't work, if you can exchange for another mask, and make sure that the answer is acceptable to you.

Q. I have had sleep study etc and am currently hiring a machine. Have already purchased mask. Can I just buy this machine from you? My specialist wanted a fixed pressure machine? (Posted: 29th May, 2008)
A. Yes, provided you have a prescription you are able to purchase a machine.

HOWEVER, if the prescription is for a fixed pressure, your machine will be set on a fixed pressure, not the automatic mode, unless we get written approval from the doctor to change it into automatic mode.

A. You should try one of the "nasal pillows" type masks, that sit under your nose. They do not touch the bridge of your nose at all.
