The Actiheart is a compact device that records physical activity and heart rate with a high level of accuracy. Levels of caloric expenditure can be determined using the information acquired by the device.

Actiheart is not a peak detector, like all other heart rate detectors. It actually digitizes the ECG signal and calculates the heart rate from the true R-to-R interval. What this means is that Actiheart loses less than 1% of the data. Other detectors may lose up to 30% of the data.

Small size and use of standard biocompatible ECG electrodes insure that the Actiheart logger is securely but comfortably attached. Actiheart is designed for multiple day use. It is splashproof and will not interfere with daily activities including intense physical activity. Placement of the device to record accurate data is easily confirmed by a flashing heart rate signal LED.

Actiheart is equipped with a rechargeable battery that provides up to 11 days of continuous operation. This battery is recharged using the USB reader interface or a multiple-device charging station. Data are recorded for future download to a computer using a standard USB connection. Under typical usage the maximum recording time is 11 days. Recording time can vary with usage patterns.
