VitalSense® - ingestible telemetric capsule for continuous core body temperature and skin temperature from ambulatory humans.
VitalSense® monitors can receive transmissions from multiple miniature, wireless, temperature sensors. Core temperature is sensed by the ingestible Jonah™ capsule. Dermal temperatures are recorded from hypoallergenic, non-irritating, adhesive dermal patches. Both sensor types are disposable, but designed for multi-day use under demanding physical and environmental conditions. Both types of sensors use low-power radio frequency transmissions to communicate with the Monitor.
Features of this innovative technology include:
- Temperature measurements (other vital signs sensor options under development)
- Disposable, telemetric sensors
- Continuous data logging
- Accuracy in extreme conditions
- Accommodation of up to 10 sensors
- Flexible technical design
- Design for research, clinical and ambulatory applications
Use with Other Devices
VitalSense functionality can be supplemented through the use of our Actical device. Caloric expenditure is calculated from movement recorded by the Actical device worn on the waist. Data from this device is transcribed to a format that allows both sets of data to be synchronized for an integrated analysis. |
