Contraindications

Masks with magnetic components are contraindicated for use by patients where they, or anyone in close physical contact while using the mask, have the following:

  • Active medical implants that interact with magnets (i.e., pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD), neurostimulators, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunts, insulin/infusion pumps)
  • Metallic implants/objects containing ferromagnetic material (i.e., aneurysm clips/flow disruption devices, embolic coils, stents, valves, electrodes, implants to restore hearing or balance with implanted magnets, ocular implants, metallic splinters in the eye)

Warnings 

Keep the mask magnets at a safe distance of at least 6 inches (150 mm) away from implants or medical devices that may be adversely affected by magnetic interference. This warning applies to you or anyone in close physical contact with your mask. The magnets are in the frame and lower headgear clips, with a magnetic field strength of up to 400mT. When worn, they connect to secure the mask but may inadvertently detach while asleep. 

Implants/medical devices, including those listed within contraindications, may be adversely affected if they change function under external magnetic fields or contain ferromagnetic materials that attract/repel to magnetic fields (some metallic implants, e.g., contact lenses with metal, dental implants, metallic cranial plates, screws, burr hole covers, and bone substitute devices). Consult your physician and manufacturer of your implant / other medical device for information on the potential adverse effects of magnetic fields.

"My new mask is so comfortable, soft around my head and mouth as it doesn’t feel like plastic and sticky. The new vent style is great because it doesn’t blow air onto my husband while we sleep. Not So Good

"They gave me a test one which was working fine and as soon as I bought a new one, the two side valves make a loud noise when I breath in and out which makes it impossible for me to sleep. So I really recommend that you try a new one not one that is a test one. Before you spend over $200"

"I really like the mask and my poor nose is appreciating a break . I have one complaint though , the holes for the nostrils are the wrong way ! The holes go side to side , nostrils go front to back . I struggle to fall asleep because I feel like I’m not getting enough air ."

"Bought this as a replacement for the otherwise identical all plastic version, and no matter how I tighten, loosen, or adjust it on my face the mask leaks air, usually around my nose. I swapped back to my old plastic one and have had no issues again, disappointed."

Not good for side sleepers

"It is very comfortable when I lay on my back. But when I lay on my side the tubes on the side of my face get restricted. The side strap angle is a bit too low, so there is reduced upward pressure on my nostrils to get a good seal on the mask. This ResMed technician adjusted the strap tension, however this increased the pressure under my lips resulting in a small mouth ulcer. I like how there are no tubes in front of my face, however the angle and positioning of the head harness does not provide adequate pressure in side sleeping, and the mask slips a few mm, causing air leaks. I am returning the mask within the 4 week trial period and resuming use of my F40 mask, which gives better results for me."

"I had tried to use a cpap twice before but could not adjust to the masks I tried. Through the night air was escaping and giving me sore eyes. I gave up. I needed to try again and this time the air touch F30i comfort was available. Finally I could tolerate mask on my face. Not yet up to the full night on,but most of it. Has been a game changer for me. Staff at the Cleveland branch have been wonderful."

How to clean the AirTouch F30i Comfort Full Face Mask?

Clean the cushion daily and the frame, elbow, and headgear weekly. Soak components in warm water with mild detergent, hand wash gently (no brushes for the cushion), rinse thoroughly and air dry out of direct sunlight.

When do I replace the AirTouch F30i Comfort cushion?

If there is any visible deterioration of a mask component (cracking, crazing, tears etc.) the component should be discarded and replaced. Pilling and fraying of fabric components may occur and do not affect performance of the mask.

How do I fit the AirTouch F30i Comfort full face mask?

Place the cushion under your nose, pull the headgear over your head, attach magnetic clips under your ears, and adjust the upper and lower straps evenly. Connect the elbow to the top of the frame to complete the fit.
